Confidence in the election process’ integrity is imperative for any nation’s democracy. The heavy litigation in the 2020 presidential election is showing just how many Americans do not have faith in the U.S. electoral process; this, of course, doesn’t bode well for future elections to come.

Right now, the disputes in the 2020 presidential election are raising questions about what is being done regarding accounts of voter fraud. President Trump’s legal representatives maintain that their fights in the courts are not just about the current race, but also the integrity of new races to come.

As of now, however, nearly eight out of ten Trump voters believe that fraud and other irregularities stole this year’s presidential election, reports Breitbart News.

Where Most Trump Voters Stand on the 2020 Presidential Election

A new poll from Politico is quite telling about where tens of millions of Americans currently stand. According to the findings, 79% of Trump voters do not believe that the present results of the 2020 race have validity. By contrast, only 21% of Americans who voted for Trump believe in the validity of current results.

Politico’s poll then goes on to inform that only 38% of the president’s voters accept the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. That’s a stark contrast from the whopping 97% of Biden voters who accept it.

Finally, the poll shows that majorities of both Republicans and Democrats have lost respect for one another, compared to the levels of respect they had in 2016. Trump voters and Biden voters also remain greatly divided in their perception of the mainstream media; while 83% of Trump voters view it as the “enemy of the people,” 72% of Biden voters maintain that the media is critical to U.S. democracy.

The Overall Message

Politico’s most recent survey is very telling; it shows that tens of millions of Americans do not trust the electoral process, at least as of now. Some folks have stated that this is all the more reason to continue letting the president’s litigation play out in the courts.

Democrats and others who dislike Trump continue calls for him to drop all lawsuits and concede to Biden. This appears unlikely to happen and furthermore, it doesn’t do much to secure faith in the electoral process.

Many of the Republicans and Trump voters who believe that Democrats stole the 2020 presidential election via fraud are now questioning whether corruption of this nature will taint other races.
