Last month, gun sales soared. A series of factors, from COVID-19 lockdowns to Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots, the Biden administration succeeding the Trump administration, and more, contributed to a notable jump in sales of firearms.

With the new White House administration in power, many Americans have concerns that the 46th president will come after their guns. After all, Biden did run on several anti-Second Amendment policies; support for compulsory gun buyback programs is one example, as is backing a tax on gun owners specifically.

According to Newsmax, Biden is now working to make good on his promises to implement gun control restrictions on the law-abiding.

Gun Control Under the Biden Administration

On Sunday, Biden urged the Democrat-controlled Congress to tighten up gun control laws across the nation. The Democrat president then stated that the “time to act” is in the present before advocating for an assault weapons ban; another part of gun control backed by Biden involves mandatory background checks for anyone seeking to purchase a firearm.

This is just the beginning, though. Biden has a history of being antagonistic towards both gun owners and Second Amendment rights groups, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Hence, on Sunday, Biden also called for a legal prohibition of magazines with high capacity; this comes on top of the current president seeking to penalize gun manufacturers in the event that their firearms are used to carry out violent acts.

The Biden Administration vs. Second Amendment Rights

Time and time again, the current president has proven that he aims to strip law-abiding citizens of their constitutional right to bear arms. This explains why gun sales have skyrocketed in 2021 and will likely continue to do so.

Biden reaching out to Congress to pass more gun control restrictions speaks to the necessity of Republicans taking back at least one congressional body. Democrats will have a much tougher time ramming through anti-Second Amendment legislation if Republicans control the House and/or the Senate.

Second Amendment rights are important and beloved by so many Americans. At a time like this, it is more than apparent that the current White House seeks to remove these rights from the law-abiding, while doing nothing to stop true criminals, psychopaths, and other dangerous individuals.
