Senate Minority Leader and Republican Mitch McConnell penned an opinion article in Washington Post, calling out the president and the Democrat Party.
McConnell stated Biden should leave the U.S. Supreme Court alone. The opinion piece was made after recent reports that the president and Democrat lawmakers are attempting to pack the court.
Biden wants to restructure the Supreme Court
McConnell criticized Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken, particularly the recent comments he made criticizing Latin Americans.
The Senate Minority Leader stated while Blinken is attacking the anti-democratic practices by other global leaders, Biden is busy looking for ways to restructure the U.S. Supreme Court.
McConnell further claimed the Democrats are attempting to “bully” Supreme Court justices and threaten the judicial authority in the United States. He also mentioned the demonstrations of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from last year on the stairs of the Supreme Court.
It should be noted that a year ago, Schumer threatened Judges Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch after they ruled against an abortion case. McConnell also recollected another event driven by Democrats wherein the chairman of the Judiciary Committee delivered a threatening letter to the court.
The letter stated because of the failure of the Supreme Court to perform well, people are getting concerned, so they want to restructure the high court.
Democrats are threatening to attack the foundations of the Senate and the Court if they do not get their way.
Here's the problem with this attempted blackmail: They have already been making these threats for many months. They've been campaigning on them for over a year.

In the opinion article, McConnell likewise recalled the same efforts made by former President Roosevelt who attempted to pack the court back in 1937.
However, political parties always stopped the proposal of expanding the high court. Late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg also reaffirmed that nine is a perfect number of judges.
On top of this, Justice Stephen Breyer also mentioned restructuring the Supreme Court will result in the loss of public trust in the judiciary.
Biden created a commission to look into the possibility of restructuring the high court
However, it should be noted a big part of Biden’s campaign strategy was packing the court. Thus, after his inauguration, Biden started making efforts to look at ways on how he can make it work by creating a commission to look into it.
The Senate Minority Leader noted the creation of the commission itself is already an extreme move by Biden. It reflects the ambitions of the liberal president and the Democrat Party to abolish the separation of powers in the country.
McConnell likewise criticized the attempt of Biden to limit the terms of Supreme Court justices, stating the move will trigger “institutional vandalism.”

In addition to this, the hypocrisy of the Biden administration was also highlighted. If Republicans were making all these moves, Democrats would have already made a big fuss about it.
Although the first findings by the commission dissuaded the idea of court expansion, they still maintained the thought of getting rid of the lifetime serving tenures of justices.
