COVID-19 Vaccine Passport Program Begins in New York

The coronavirus vaccine is becoming more and more readily available. Across the nation, leaders are setting up vaccination centers where people can receive innoculation against COVID-19.

As more Americans are vaccinated, travel is increasing, as is the number of people willing to leave home, spend time in public, and otherwise enjoy themselves. Studies and polling of public sentiment also shows that most people believe the darkest days of coronavirus have come and gone.

However, many people are concerned about the ways in which the government has behaved in the past year under the guise of safety. Amid these concerns, Americans have learned that New York is rolling out a COVID-19 vaccine passport program, confirms Breitbart News

What to Know About the New York Vaccine Passport Program

New York is the very first state in the nation to launch an Excelsior Pass program. With this vaccine passport program, New Yorkers will have to download an app, enter some personal information, and then show a digital QR code to prove they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 or tested negative for the virus.

Furthermore, different venues and entertainment centers are positioned to accept this form of certification. New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is already painting the vaccine passport program as a good thing; according to Cuomo, the Excelsior Pass program will stop virus outbreaks amid reopenings, while also ushering people into a “new normal.”

Many Americans have balked at the notion of the vaccine passport program; this is also something that a fair amount of people had concerns about, especially amid governments mandating face masks.

Amid the launch of the Excelsior Pass program, there are reports that certain New York employers will require this as an employment condition. Over this weekend alone, people have taken to social media to express their grievances; a very popular opinion also asserts that a vaccine passport program is no different than having to wear a yellow star.

In all reality, the vaccine passport is likeliest to thrive in blue state, not red ones. Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, for instance, made clear that the Sunshine State will not implement such a program. DeSantis furthermore stated that forcing residents to show proof of innoculaton is “unacceptable.”
