Following last week’s storming of Capitol Hill, many Americans view our nation as more divided than ever. Events that took place in D.C. last Wednesday have consequences that Americans are seeing play out in real-time.
Aside from big tech companies cracking down on conservative speech and House Democrats vowing to impeach Trump yet again, the left and the right are at it like never before. Many leftists are using the U.S. Capitol riots as an excuse to collectively blame all conservatives, even though right-wingers have rebuked the violence.
There’s a lot of healing that has to happen in this country if Americans are ever going to progress and move forward. This is why First Lady Melania Trump released a personal statement to Americans over the weekend, per Breitbart News.
A Call for Healing from the First Lady
The opening remarks from Trump’s public statement note her disheartenment and disappointment in the decision that some people made to storm the U.S. Capitol. After slamming false claims and “unwarranted personal attacks,” the first lady stated that the present time ought to be used to heal America and the American people.

Not only did Trump denounce the violence on Capitol Hill, but she also warned about the danger of assumptions. The first lady pleaded for Americans to never pass assumptions based on someone’s political views or skin color. She then declared that her heart and prayers go out to individuals who passed away last week due to the Capitol Hill riots.
Reactions to the First Lady’s Statement
As of this Monday morning, “Melania Trump” is trending on Twitter. Some Americans thanked the first lady for her statement; although, critics professed that she seized the moment to simply make the situation about her.

Trump’s remarks to the nation come after multiple White House resignations in the wake of the riots. Many allies to President Trump have taken umbrage, blaming him for the events last Wednesday; others opined that the president failed to expressly condemn the violence in a manner that his supporters would understand.
All things considered, the healing of America is an endeavor that looks fated to take quite some time.
