On Monday, during her visit to Guatemala, Vice President Kamala Harris was welcomed by protesters holding up signs saying, “Kamala, Mind Your Own Business.”

Protesters greeted the vice president as she landed in Guatemala to allegedly address the “root causes” of the surge of migrants at the U.S. – Mexico border. The protesters can be seen holding up signs telling Harris to “mind her own business.”

Other protesters carried signs saying that former President Trump “won” the 2020 presidential race.

According to a pool report, a large group was holding a “Trump Won” sign as the vice president’s motorcade passed through Guatemala City on its way to the Guatemala National Palace.

Harris’ first international trip

Harris’ trip in Central America this week is her first international trip since sitting as the vice president. The trip is in connection with the role Biden assigned to her to manage the overwhelming surge of migrants to the southern border.

However, rather than showing up at the U.S. – Mexico border to see for herself what’s going on there, Harris opted to travel to Central America. This was alleged to address the “root causes” of the massive influx of migrants.

On Monday, during her speech with Guatemalan President Giammattei, Harris said that Biden and she talked about the “root causes” of the surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. Harris said that they specifically discussed the “lack of opportunity” for many Guatemalans.

The U.S. vice president then added that she wanted to stress that the objective of their task; to assist Guatemalans in finding “hope at home.”

Harris also mentioned the corruption in governments in Central America. According to her, this is among the “root causes” of the surge of migrants to the United States.

However, Harris did mention that America is planning to enforce immigration laws. This comes despite the fact that over 60,000 migrants have been released by the Border Patrol into the United States since Biden assumed office.

All of these migrants were allowed to go into the country without corresponding court dates.

Harris: “Do not come. Do not come.”

In a sudden change of heart, Harris started to urge people not to come to the United States. She repeatedly told Guatemalans, “Do not come.”

Harris then added that the U.S, will continue to implement laws and “secure our border”. She added that there are legal means on how people can migrate. Harris then emphasized that one of their priorities is to “discourage illegal migration.”

After this, Harris made a bold statement. She said that if people come to the border, she believes they will be turned back.

After Harris’ trip to Guatemala, she is also set to meet on Tuesday with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
