Harris Visited Walter Reed After Meeting With COVID Positive Democrats

On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris went to Walter Reed Medical Center; this visit to the hospitals happened after Harris met with Texas Democrats who tested positive for COVID-19.

Harris’s office is silent when asked whether Harris is experiencing any symptoms.

According to White House officials, the vice president merely made a “routine doctor’s appointment” to the Medical Center on Sunday. However, Harris’s doctor’s appointment was coincidentally scheduled right after meeting with Democrat lawmakers who tested positive for COVID-19.

When Harris’s office was asked if the vice president is experiencing or showing any symptoms consistent with coronavirus, they did not immediately respond.

Then on Saturday, Symone Sanders, Harris’s spokesperson, claimed that the vice president has not been “in close contact” with the lawmakers who tested positive. In a statement, Sanders said that based on the timeline when these lawmakers tested positive (one on Friday night and two others on Sunday morning), it was determined that Harris was not at risk of exposure.

The spokesperson maintained that since Harris and her staff were not in close contact, they do not have to be quarantined. Sanders also added that Harris and her staff are all vaccinated. Harris’s doctor’s appointment at the Walter Reed Medical Center came after posting a tweet about the Delta variant.

Texas House Democrats confirmed the positive tests of lawmakers

On Saturday, the Texas House Democrats confirmed that the lawmakers indeed tested positive. They also added that the other lawmakers and staff all tested negative. Christ Turner, Texas House Democratic Caucus Chairman, made a statement about this news.

He stated that the House Democratic Caucus is abiding by the CDC protocols and guidance. Turner added that this incident is a reminder that coronavirus is still with us even though COVID vaccines offer protection. He also suggested that people should still take necessary precautions.

Democrat lawmakers of Texas went on a private flight to Washington D.C. as they abandoned the special session in the state legislature. The move was made in order to prevent voting for the new election laws in the state.

Meanwhile, Texas House members who stayed in the state passed a Call of the House motion on Tuesday morning. This required all members to be present, and those who fail to appear can be arrested and be brought to the Texas Capitol. When the Democrat lawmakers who were already at Washington D.C. did not appear at the House, they became subject to arrest.

Accordingly, Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that since the lawmakers abandoned the special session, he would keep calling it a special session, one after another. He added that this will keep going over time and will continue until the absent Democrat lawmakers step up and vote.
