Most U.S. Voters Don’t Want to Defund Law Enforcement

Defunding law enforcement is both an unwise and unpopular position. Any civil society requires law enforcement to both protect and defend while also stopping criminals from infringing upon others.

Democrats have an agenda, though. This agenda involves making the public as dependent upon the government as possible; that’s why Democrats are pushing for permanent government handouts, federal power over statewide elections, etc.

Like many of the other policies proposed by the left, defunding law enforcement is not widely supported by the nation (and for good reason), as Breitbart News reports.

Where Do Most Voters Stand on Defunding Law Enforcement?

Yesterday, Fox News put out a poll showing where most Americans stand on law enforcement and its role in the United States.

The poll showed that 62% of U.S. voters don’t support yanking police funding and allocating it to other causes. Just one-third of surveyed voters confirmed that they’re supportive of defunding the police. Vast majorities of conservative voters (87%) and Evangelicals (79%) are against slashing funds for law enforcement.

Calls to defund law enforcement have now surged to Democrats urging the altogether abolition of police. While some Democrats have pushed back against the calls to abolish police, others have embraced Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s claims that policing should end and is beyond reformation.

As the midterm elections approach, leftist calls to defund the police are bound to backfire on Democrats. The GOP has already started ad blitz campaigns calling out Democrats’ reckless pushes to dismantle law enforcement in the United States.

The Decline of Policing in America

It is a sad state of affairs that more officers now than ever are quitting. Police provide an irreplaceable contribution to society; yet, they’re constantly under verbal, societal, and physical attack. Many officers are therefore determining that the job is no longer worth the hassle.

Democrats who have excused and championed calls to defund law enforcement in the United States bear responsibility for the decline of policing. So long as the left excuses and backs criminals over police, the former will only become more emboldened.

Ultimately, the statistics and reality simply don’t back left-wing narratives about police in the United States. What’s most ironic about leftist calls to defund the police is that Democrat leaders in favor of this are beneficiaries of law enforcement’s protection.
