The prediction Vice President Kamala Harris made last week about the governor’s race in Virginia may come back to bite Democrats and Republicans are happy to agree.

Harris predicted the results in Virginia gubernatorial election will play a crucial part in 2022, 2024, and so on

Back when Harris was campaigning for Democrat Terry McAuliffe, she made a prediction stating what happens in the election in Virginia will determine what will transpire in 2022, 2024, and so on.

However, in Tuesday’s governor races in Virginia and New Jersey, Republican candidates considerably outperformed all expectations. These outcomes were previously recalled as “nearly impossible” by most commentators a few months ago.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat candidate and former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, after Biden won in Virginia by over 10 points back in 2020.

On the other hand, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli is also leading Democrat and incumbent governor, Phil Murphy, by around 1,000 votes with 88% tallies reported in New Jersey. It can be noted that Biden won in New Jersey by almost 16 points.

The results are “not great” and Democrats have work to do before 2022

Democrat activist Jon Favreau stated that there will be no takes from him tonight as to why they lost a “Biden 10+ state” merely a year after the election.

Favreau also added he wanted to wait for more information to come in and he’ll be open for explanations that he might not have known before. Favreau then said this outcome was “not great.” Finally, he acknowledged the Democrat Party has some work to do before the 2022 midterms.

On the other hand, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel of the Republican National Committee stated on Tuesday Americans and Virginians all over the U.S. are “fed up” with the divisive policies of Biden.

They are tired of the “failed leadership,” as well as the Democrat programs that are hurting working families. She then added a “Republican wave” is coming in 2022 and the results in the Virginia gubernatorial election are just the beginning.

On the other hand, analysts called the gubernatorial election in Virginia a “bellwether” for the 2022 midterm elections. This is now suggesting the victory of Youngkin foretells the win of Republicans next year in the House and Senate.

If the vice president’s prediction holds, it will mean that Republicans will have an advantage in the 2022 midterms election, the presidential election in 2024, and so on.  Meanwhile, conservatives were quick to highlight the words of Harris, in light of Glenn Youngkin’s victory.

Hamley Garcia, a school choice advocate, posted a tweet, agreeing with the predictions of Harris. Chairwoman McDaniel also cited the remarks that Harris made, stating the people in Virginia sent a “resounding message” as they rebuke Democrats. She then claimed the “red wave” is here.
