Lawyer Sidney Powell has made headlines this month, amid her ties to the Trump legal team. Right now, legal aides for the 45th president are working to prove that various occurrences of voter fraud stained the 2020 presidential election.
Powell has made a number of claims, many of which prompted Americans on both sides of the political aisle to ask for proof. Some of the lawyer’s most eyebrow-raising statements include the following: claims that Dominion Voting Systems worked with other countries to flip votes over to Biden and vowing to prove within 14 days that President Trump won the election.
I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!

Likewise, Powell also wound up in what became a public clash with Fox News host Tucker Carlson. On his nighttime show, Carlson stated that when he sought evidence from Powell regarding her claims, she grew annoyed and told him to cease all contact with her.
Just yesterday, President Trump’s legal advisers issued a statement, affirming that Sidney Powell is no longer a member of Trump’s legal team or an attorney for Trump in any capacity, confirms Breitbart News.
The Decision to Cut Ties with Sidney Powell
As seen above in President Trump’s tweet from November 14, it does appear as though Powell was a member of the president’s legal team earlier this month. The decision to cut ties with her is also rapid and unexpected; many Trump supporters who are following the extensive litigation were claiming Powell to be the real deal.

Yesterday’s statement from President Trump’s attorneys is clear and curt. The notice reads that Powell is “practicing law on her own”; furthermore, the president’s lawyers make a point of declaring that Powell has no affiliation with the Trump legal team and is not a legal aide for the commander-in-chief.
The Trump team’s decision to sever ties with Powell arrived after her public spat with Carlson; reports additionally indicate that the lawyer made claims that Trump’s representatives had reservations about being able to prove in a court of law.
The Path Ahead for the Trump Legal Team
While Sidney Powell isn’t associated with the Trump legal team, its actual team members are still very much hard at work.
Right now, the Trump campaign wants another recount of votes in Georgia; only this time, the request comes with the stipulation that the Peach State includes signature checks, hence ensuring the validity of ballots.
Likewise, Trump’s legal team is also taking an equal protections violation lawsuit to Third Circuit Court after an Obama-appointed Pennsylvania judge tossed it out. This, and much more, remains underway as a new week begins.
