America has reached a place where people will no longer sit by and allow elected officials to promote a supposed “cure” that is worse than the problem of COVID-19. When various lockdown mandates began, some Americans were willing to abide by them; however, the passing of time, loss of businesses and jobs, etc. have caused individuals to determine that enough is enough.

Thus far, protests against coronavirus lockdowns have occurred in North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. There are also additional protests being planned in these states and others, such as Georgia. At this time, the general consensus is quite clear; Americans are ready to get back to work.

While more than nine of ten people who contract COVID-19 bounce back, the same cannot be said for economic decline. This is why virtually all elected officials should observe the coronavirus response of South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. Unlike her counterparts in other states, the Republican leader has not issued any stay-at-home executive orders, per The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Analyzing Gov. Noem’s Response to Coronavirus

Yesterday, the South Dakota governor sat down with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham to discuss how she’s handling COVID-19 in her state. With only seven coronavirus deaths in South Dakota, all signs seem to indicate that Gov. Noem’s approach of not mandating lockdowns is working.

While speaking with Ingraham, the governor explained that South Dakota residents have successfully taken on the task of keeping businesses alive while simultaneously exercising “personal responsibility.” Gov. Noem also cited her respect for “freedoms and liberties” as the reason for not instituting mandatory stay home orders.

Finally, the governor warned that Americans shouldn’t surrender freedoms for the illusion of security. She also rightfully pointed out that the loss of liberty in times of crisis is precisely what causes the soul of America to die.
