Trump Details RESPONSE After Iranian Forces Fire on U.S. Destroyers

President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday that Iranian forces attacking three U.S. Navy destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz were completely destroyed after launching missiles, drones, and fast attack boats at American vessels. No U.S. personnel or ships sustained damage, while Iran suffered catastrophic losses including multiple port facilities struck in retaliatory strikes.

Three Destroyers Transit Under Fire

U.S. Central Command reported Iranian forces launched an unprovoked assault as the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason transited the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman. American forces intercepted all incoming threats before conducting precision strikes against Iranian military installations. CENTCOM targeted missile and drone launch sites, command-and-control centers, and intelligence nodes responsible for coordinating the attack against American naval assets.

Trump detailed the confrontation on Truth Social, stating the destroyers successfully completed their transit despite sustained enemy fire. He confirmed Iranian missiles were intercepted and drones destroyed mid-air, while numerous small boats sank rapidly. The president emphasized Iran has increasingly relied on small vessel tactics following the dismantling of its conventional naval forces. American retaliatory strikes hit Iran’s Qeshm Port, Bandar Abbas, and the Bandar Kargan naval checkpoint in Minab, according to senior U.S. officials.

Ceasefire Remains in Effect Despite Exchange

Trump downplayed the military exchange when questioned by ABC News, characterizing the strikes as a minor response while insisting the ceasefire arrangement remains operational. He described the retaliation as just a warning shot compared to potential future actions if Tehran refuses to finalize a comprehensive framework agreement. The confrontation occurred as the Trump administration awaits Iran’s response to the latest proposed deal, following the president’s decision to pause Project Freedom maritime operations earlier this week.

Trump Issues Ultimatum to Tehran Leadership

The president warned Iran’s leadership that refusing to sign a final agreement would trigger far more severe military consequences. Trump called Iranian officials unstable actors who would use nuclear weapons without hesitation if given the opportunity, vowing to prevent such a scenario. He stated the three destroyers would rejoin the naval blockade, which he described as a fortified barrier around the strategic waterway. Iranian state media provided conflicting reports about the strikes, initially blaming the United Arab Emirates before acknowledging exchanges of fire with unidentified adversaries near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island.
