Brooklyn’s Jewish Families HUNTED in Their Neighborhood…

Masked mobs waving Hezbollah flags descended upon Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn, terrorizing families and children near their synagogues while New York City’s leadership remained conspicuously silent.

Terror Comes Home to Brooklyn’s Jewish Families

Orthodox Jewish families in Brooklyn faced a night of terror on May 11-12 as pro-Hamas demonstrators marched through residential neighborhoods toward synagogues. Eyewitnesses reported masked protesters waving Hezbollah flags while chanting “Allahu Akbar,” directly threatening Jewish children and families in their own communities. Videos circulating on social media captured the chaos as residents sought shelter while hundreds of NYPD officers scrambled to establish protective perimeters. The deliberate targeting of residential Jewish areas represents an alarming escalation from campus protests to direct community intimidation. This wasn’t political protest—it was calculated harassment of American citizens based solely on their religion.

Mayor’s Alleged Complicity Under Scrutiny

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s response—or lack thereof—has sparked outrage among Jewish community advocates and conservative voices nationwide. Since taking office in 2025, Mamdani allegedly reversed anti-antisemitism policies implemented by his predecessor Eric Adams and vetoed bipartisan legislation designed to protect Jewish residents. His history includes leading a pro-Hamas rally in October 2023, shortly after Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis in the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Critics argue this track record has emboldened extremists to openly terrorize Jewish neighborhoods without fear of consequences. Despite videos showing clear harassment and assault, no mass arrests were reported following the May 11 incident, raising questions about enforcement priorities under the current administration.

Pattern of Escalating Antisemitic Violence

This attack follows a disturbing pattern of antisemitic incidents that have plagued New York City since October 2023. The Anti-Defamation League documented a 300-plus percent increase in antisemitic incidents in NYC following the Hamas attacks on Israel. What began as campus protests has metastasized into street-level intimidation campaigns targeting residential Jewish communities. Previous incidents included synagogue attacks in 2024 and repeated marches through Jewish neighborhoods characterized by participants as “intifada-style” demonstrations. The escalation from verbal harassment to physical assaults on children represents a dangerous new threshold. Orthodox Jewish areas like Borough Park and Williamsburg, once considered safe havens for observant families, now require massive police presence to ensure basic safety during religious gatherings.

Government Failure and Community Vulnerability

The incident exposes a fundamental failure of government to protect law-abiding citizens from ideologically motivated violence. While NYPD officers performed their duties admirably under difficult circumstances, the deployment of 400 officers to guard a single synagogue illustrates the unsustainable resource strain created by leadership unwilling to address the root problem. Conservative commentators note the glaring double standard—similar mob actions targeting Black or Muslim neighborhoods would trigger immediate condemnation and aggressive prosecution. Instead, Jewish families receive only reactive protection while perpetrators face minimal consequences. This represents precisely the kind of government failure that frustrates Americans across the political spectrum: officials more concerned with political calculations than protecting vulnerable communities. The situation demands accountability from elected leaders who appear to prioritize ideology over the constitutional duty to ensure public safety for all citizens regardless of religion.

The events of May 11-12 serve as a stark reminder that antisemitism remains a virulent threat in American cities when political leadership lacks the courage to confront it directly. Jewish families deserve the same protections afforded to every other community, not performative rhetoric followed by policy decisions that embolden those who would terrorize them. As this pattern continues, the question facing New Yorkers is whether their government serves the people or enables the chaos that makes the American Dream of safety and prosperity increasingly unattainable for entire communities.

  1. Put the blame for aiding and abetting religious harassment and persecution where it belongs: lily-livered (Democrats mostly but not all), venal politicians, weak police policy, and religious leaders who claim opponents have a mistaken opinion of Islam. No, we are pretty well informed on the subject. There are many books and articles about Islam, many of which were published after 9/11. They are factual and enlightening.
